Predections

Hello and welcome back to my blog. I would just like to show you what and how I tried to predict a digital book named “Boy on a Bike”. As you can see there are 3 colours in front of your screen, such as the picture below, Red is the one I tried predicting the book before reading the book. Lets see if I got my first prediction right.

Red – red is just trying to predict it the first time, the thing I predicted is “He’s gonna have the time of his life”.

Orange – Orange was the mid way predictions before reading the whole thing, you’ve gotta understand me here I only read like one page of it so it makes sense that some of it’s wrong. some of my predictions were just Hitching a ride by a random stranger because there was a storm out but the son said “just keep paddling” Oh and my prediction was they were gonna bond more as a father and son.

Green – Here’s the part of when i confirm my predictions! i’m actually not that excited but lets see if I got some right such as red           Red – Having the time of his life, Yes I got that correct somehow                                                                                                             Orange – I didn’t write any predictions but I did have some sort of prediction in my head like “they’ll probably suck it up” and yes I got that correct                                                                                                                                                                                            Green – The whole point on why the he travelled 1300 km across the north island was just to save 5’000 dollars for St John hospital because the needed more hospitals

Anyways bye the person reading this!

Peace

How can we be Champions of Peace Blog Post

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace’.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are the Swastika the Dove, Olive Branch and white Poppy.

These symbols represent peace because they help spread the word and mostly so we can just represent peace as a symbol in general and not just words.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because it has every single symbol of peace and just to show many different ways you can express Peace.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about St Francis. I thought this person was a champion of peace because he showed empathy and kindness to all living beings on earth.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because it made me learn how to be more emphatic and nicer and kinder to more people.

I learnt to be more sympathetic and to be nicer.

Anyways bye bye people!

Reading Create – Slogan – Berlin wall

Hello again peeps, today I will be making you learn and show what Berlin would have looked like in 1961. This is a summary of what the Berlin wall

1961 – The Berlin wall was built and during that people were confused and cut off from their jobs and left Vulnerable to Bankruptcy. They had only a wire fence but but didn’t mind it for a while

1962 – 1965 – Improved Fence wall, they had improved it which made more people rebel against their own leader and made a lot of people poor since to no jobs including family’s

1965 – 1975 – The concrete is put into place into the wire fence, it’s much more harder to go through now and is frustrating more people one by one

1975 – 1989 – Grenzmauer 75 (Border Wall 75) The border wall has been vandalised and might have looked like this

9th November 1989 – The Berlin was destroyed down making everyone become free and go on to go to West side of the Berlin wall instead of the East side. Apparently the East side was much worse and had 0 freedom than the West side since it was controlled by the Americans.

To conclude this blog what would you graffiti on the Berlin wall

Type in the comments below, see you peeps

Maths Blog – Symmetry

Hello people, today I will be showing you how I learnt more symmetry since I forgot a little since grade 4.

Anyways back to the topic, symmetry is like a mirror so this means the side that is facing the mirror is the same with the mirrors reflection which you could have already guessed. The reflection is the same with the thing that is facing it

(The picture will Demonstrate)

The lines are showing where the symmetry is basically so if when every way you flip or reverse something with symmetry it will still have lines of symmetry depending on what the colour or shape it is.

And hey you reading, yeah you can you find a thing that’s symmetrical in your class or house or room?

I challenge you so get out there! and find something symmetrical.

See you soon blogger!

Poetry Blog

Kia ora,

Over the first few weeks of Term 3 we have been reading and writing all different types of poetry. Please enjoy reading my poetry.

List Poems: I discovered that a list poem is a poetic form that presents ideas, images, or emotions through a series of items or descriptions.

Limericks: I learned that a limerick is a humorous five-line poem with a distinctive rhyme scheme and a bouncy rhythm.

Here is my limerick

A Wiggly worm was wiggling

with its wagging tail its feet jiggling

were tapping with joy as if he

were as happy as he can be

and his whole family giggling

Blackout Poetry: I discovered that Blackout poetry is the art of selectively erasing words from existing texts to create new poetic compositions. I liked doing the blackout poetry.

Over the last two weeks:

I really enjoyed doing the Black out poems since I’ve done it before it was much easier and fun.

Which poem stood out to you the most and why?

Science Rules!

The Week before and this week we had Science and we had mishaps and some success. The first week we had The Play dough making for electricity and the torch, the torch was much harder to do than the Playdough one but the thing we learnt on the first week was doing circuits and doing wires which was really fun!

And this week we learnt how solar panel cars work, ones looked like normal cars and some looked like mars rovers. They showed us a video on how electricity from power plants and other electricity generation stuff like Windmills, Coal, Water, Solar Panels, Nuclear and Hydro Solar. and maybe some others but this is what we got so far.But by far the Playdough™ one is the best one yet because every time the copper touched the Playdough™ it turned the light on.

Something I found interesting during this learning was Play dough being a conductor, it was really interesting because every time the copper end touches the Play dough it lights up the bulb.

Something I found challenging was the torch challenge or i would describe it as a challenge since it was way too hard for my little group to figure it out, My friends in the group knew how it worked but then when we had the chance to do it we all had forgotten how to which sucked because the the task we had to do was already hard enough but we had instructions but it was still confusing but when we were so close we had to change tasks on what we had to do. But at that point we would have went back from science and then packed up.

Have you ever tried some form of science in the past? Let me know by typing in the comments, I don’t want to be those people who brag about these types of things but let me know!

Rez Blog

Kia ora Citizen’s, i’d like to show my blog on how i learnt from this journal which the main character called Rez!

We had to make a blog about a journal on a page called “Rez” they had to move out of town because there was famine and raids and protests, soon after the family had to move out of Kurdistan, they had moved to New Zealand But then a she came to realise she had to learn a 4th language! But soon she realised that the schools in New Zealand were better than Kurdistan and they wouldn’t slap you if you made a little mistake, she got used to everything really quickly!

Soon after she had stayed there for a few years she made the whole country her new home,

She had been more busy as time went on and when time went on she turned into a youth adviser for the Red Cross now!

From this blog what have you learnt from it? – Put the questions in the comments on my blog!

Tricks to make your life amazing!

Over the course of term one we have looked at the question: How can we help build a resilient community? We are using something called The Resilience Project to understand simple tricks to make our lives better.

I have learnt that Empathy is about being nice and empathetic and feeling how they feel depending on their situation, Mindfulness is about knowing your surroundings being “one” with your mind and your inner thoughts and Gratitude is about being really really thankful for anything that you have.

DLO

The whole school had a showcase evening to look at all the students’ creations and learn more about The Resilience Project.

Here is an invite I made:

Invite

For the showcase evening I worked with Maks and Mackenzie

We decided to create our PBL and our packet of 2 little activities because it was fun to make.

Here is my final creation:

I now know more about what Gratitude Empathy and Mindfulness is and how I can use it in my life to be happier.

Throughout the creating process I feel like I did really well, I tried my hardest and put in lots of effort towards the final outcome. I could have been better at offering ideas to my group and coming up with something.

If I was to do this again, next time I would think about more of the ensuring I have enough stuff to give out to the audience.

How do you feel when using Gratitude and Mindfulness and Empathy?
